Loire Cotler Website

World renowned rhythmic vocalist Loire Cotler approached us as she wanted a new dynamic website that would allow users to experience and listen to her unique music, as well as a functional space to gather updates about the artist.

This was to be more than a portfolio – Loire asked us to create a portal into all things Loire.

An audio-visual interactive experience where her rhythm and our visuals would combine and complement each other to convey more than just the work but the personality and energy of Loire Cotler.

Through engaging conversations, Loire explained to us her connection to music and the mystique of her unique craft. The typography and colors used in the new design work, combine in an attempt to evoke what her fans experience during her live shows.

The key elements that were important to Loire and her team were to make the interface super user friendly and accessible. It should enable fans new and old to experience her music and explore more about her, and provide a practical way for people to reach out to her.

To help ensure maximum impact the website also needed to be visually appealing, and completely unique, like the artist herself.  The most UI intensive page of the website is a place where you can listen to the sounds of Loire.We integrated responsive elements that react to user interactions to the home page, and this was paired with incredible musical creations from Loire.

We explored different animations and flourishes to bring together the organic, fluid feel of Loire Cotler in a clear, structured grid.

We also further developed some crucial brand principles such as fonts and colours to ensure there was an aesthetic cohesion throughout the website. Afronaut by Mateusz Machalski is a futuristic typography inspired by the vernacular from the Sahel region in Senegal, Mauritania and Western Sahara. The colors are inspired by the pinks, blues and oranges of desert dunes at sundown.

We look forward to a continuing working relationship with Loire - moving into 2024 and beyond we will be bringing more features and functionality to the website to enable audiences old and new to experience her inimitable sound. The latest update of the website will bring an addition of a blog-like page, “Rhythms of Loire” where inspirational events and other news, will be shared with her fanbase.
